So i am really making progress with this blog. Today its monday and because i do some subjects over, i dont have a lot of school. I do spend a lot of time making homework and finishing assignments and learning mathematics. I am at 80% now and we have to get a minimum of 80% on the test to complete it. But they did recommend to go well above 80% so if you ruin the test, you wont go face first to the floor. So thats what i am mostly working on. Other than that i did manage to make some progress with this blog today. Its still not near finished, but the structure is really getting there. The comment system makes use of giscus which is a commenting system that works via Github and ha sgreat support for Hugo and blowfish. I might switch to a more free system later but for now it works fine. Tags are working and i changed some things like disabeling likes and views, as that makes use off the firebase API from google and i try and avoid as much bigtech as i can/am comfortable with and also google is not really known to be secure and private. Yes i do still use github which is owned by microsoft, but as I said, I dont know if i will keep this system. I also made a script that deploys the website from my localhost and uploads it to the LXC. It uses rsync to do so and it replaces any files that are changed. Then Nginx in the container serves the website template.
It currently works like this. When the user hits the domain, porkbun dns directs to the public IP of my hetzner VPS. In the VPS caddy is used asa reverse proxy. Caddy then through a Tailscale VPN tunnel safely routes the requests to my Nginx proxy manager on the local network. That NPM then routes to the containers IP adress at port 8923. Then anubis, the filter proxy, then listens on that port for the request and does its magic. If its happy and it has verified the user is likely a Human, it directs clients to the Nginx server in the LXC and they get to see the webpage. I currently have it set, so Anubis by default weights incoming requests and let them do a small challenge with a difficulty off 4, but i might lower that down and add other policies and maybe depend it on the load of the LXC, but i am still figruing that out. I like using Anubis as its opensource and its a project by a single dev. And it was originally meant as a solution to some frustration the dev had with bots taking down their git server. Sometimes the best ideas come when people are dissatisfied with something. Te Linux kernel and GNU where also created out of dissatisfaction off the creator about something. And while i am not a huge anime fan, i do like that you get a cute anime character while the check if performed, instead of a boring blank white captcha page. And its an automated captcha that does not require user interaction and its also a in-development passion driven project.
I will add more posts in the future, but for now i dont really have anything to post on the blog. Almost everything works so thats a good start already! Writing articles is not that eays as dragging and droping and i am still getting used to writing in the markdown language even though i alreadyd did a bit in my Github repository. I might port over some github things to my blog but i dont know if i will.
For now i have 3 services that are publically available. This blog is one off them. The other 2 are my private git server git-forge.309electronics.net that runs forgejo and allows me to privately host software independent of bigtech as an alternative to github. The other one is my “linktree” style website links.309electronics.net that has a bunch of usefull links to my social media and a couple services. I technically also have a 4th one, my main 309electronics.net website, but that is under construction and i have taken that one down for now as i dont know what i will use the website for. So the only thing you will see is the beautifull 503 page i made specially for downtime and maintenance :). Further plans for the main website are a WIP.
